Kenn Starr – It’s Still Real…

10 08 2009

Today it’s another chance to download a free mixtape, this one from DC area rapper Kenn Starr. Check out the entry on his blog, Starr Status, for more info.

I first heard of Kenn Starr on “The Answer” by The Foreign Exchange (his verse is the third verse, give it a listen). Starr’s first album was Starr Status (same name as his blog; can’t blame him, it works), released in 2006. It got mixed reviews, but I haven’t listened to it myself. As a matter of fact, this new mixtape is the first thing I’ve really gotten by Kenn Starr. It’s called It’s Still Real…, and I’ve gotta say, I’m pretty impressed. “Wonder Why” is easily my favorite track off the mixtape. The song is really solid, and it’s also my favorite track off Wale‘s latest mixtape Back to the Feature. I really don’t have anything bad to say about the track.

Kenn Starr has also been featured on the Indiefeed series, which, if you haven’t heard of it, is definitely worth checking out. It’s a great utility for finding out about new music. Of course, as always, you can download some Kenn Starr from SadSteve, but the selection is pretty limited. You can also find out more on Last.fm.

Either way, It’s Still Real… is available for free download, so support Kenn Starr and the rest of the DC hip hop scene and get on that.
